RESPONSIBLE TOURISM

MEANS FOR US:

RESPECT TO LOCAL PEOPLE
This should be a priority for all travel agencies, but many Inca Trail tour operators have forgotten this and give their workers a bad deal. The over exploitation of their workers, with very poor wages and treatment, make the local people feel unappreciated and excluded. That is one of the reasons why we are satisfied with the new regulations on the Inca Trail. There was a time when locals used to carry 50 Kilograms. Now porters take only 20 Kilograms and for other treks we use horses and mules.

LIFE INSURANCE AND MEDICAL ASSISTANCE FOR OUR EMPLOYEES
That way their families and the workers will work with more enthusiasm and with peace of mind that they are safe from any kind of accidents.

FAIR WAGES
Low wages are very common now in many travel agencies, we know that to pay fair wages makes our people feel increased self- esteem, and makes their family happy.

LESS IMPACT IN THE ENVIRONMENT
We are trying to cause less impact on the environment on all the trails that TREKS TO MACHUPICCHU operates. We are very conscious that as a Travel Agency, we should be taking the first steps to maintain the beauty of our landscapes, and we arrange courses for our people to recycle the trash that we produce and we  campaign in the communities to clean the trail three times every 2 months.

ALL PEOPLE THAT WORK IN TREKS TO MACHUPICCHU ARE LOCALS FROM CUSCO and this is their land. We have the enthusiasm to show you all our culture, traditions, history and beliefs.
